Roger’s Story.

Roger Pop’s journey hasn’t been easy. After a turbulent youth, a life-changing accident at age 20 left him with a spinal cord injury. Falling from the sixth floor, he was in a coma for six months and woke up knowing he would never walk again. But that was his wake-up call – the moment he decided to turn his life around.

From a bright red wheelchair to his first training sessions on the water, Roger rediscovered his childhood love for waterskiing. Within years, he became European Champion, third in the world, and a European record holder in slalom. His journey faced setbacks – from shoulder injuries to another severe car accident that worsened his paralysis – but Roger always came back stronger.

In 2021, he won the Dutch championships and broke a world record at the Benelux championships (which wasn’t recognised due to classification delays). In 2022, after a full titanium shoulder replacement, Roger’s motto became “With titanium to gold.” And he delivered – becoming World Champion in Handi Ski.

Now, Roger is ready to defend his title at the 2025 World Championships in Australia. But he needs your support to get there.
